We are the Troy Band Boosters and we are a support group for the instrumental music program here in
the Troy School District.  We work with the band directors, Mr. Lega,  Mr. Goetz and Ms. Carlton to
provide special opportunities for the band students to perform by helping with support manpower and
fund raising.  We also help keep everyone up to date on what’s happening with the band program.

There are no dues associated with the Band Boosters, so it costs nothing to participate.  If you choose
to help with some of our work, we always try and recruit enough help so no one is overwhelmed.  And
we always seem to have an “expert” around who has organized an activity or chaperoned before to
help the new parents.

Examples of what we work on include: organizing various fund raisers, hosting IGSMA State Band
Contest, planning the end of year band trip (Symphonic Band), organizing uniform fittings for the
Symphonic and Concert bands, creating newsletters and updating  the website.

Along with providing chaperones for band trips to contests, band festivals and parades, these are the
types of activities we are responsible for each year.  Our work helps the band directors focus on music
and allows our students to participate in special events while minimizing the costs to families.  We
keep individual student account records so younger band students can earn money toward future years’
trips and events.

As with most student organizations, the Boosters are a critical component of the overall success of the
program and, more importantly, personal reward to each of our children.  Please take the time to
participate in whatever way you feel you can!
